Forests have an essential role in mitigating and adapting to climate change, maintaining global biodiversity, preventing desertification and land degradation, and protecting watersheds. Forests also play a part in the global efforts to reduce poverty by providing sources of income, food, shelter and medicines. Consequently, forests and forest related actions are an important part of the implementation of many global conventions and international processes, such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, and the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF).
Indufor has an in-depth understanding of multilateral environmental agreements and processes and has experience in supporting their secretariats, as well as assisting and advising international organisations, agencies, partnerships and initiatives to achieve their objectives.
