Forests and climate solutions
Deforestation in the developing world accounts for 20% of annual global carbon dioxide emissions. Given the importance of the role of forests in mitigating climate change, reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD) received much attention during the Copenhagen Conference in December 2009.
Indufor innovatively designs and implements forest and climate change strategies and projects worldwide. Relying on our 30 years of experience in the forest sector, we provide clients with effective solutions for integrating sustainable forestry with efforts to curb climate change.
Reducing the rate of deforestation requires effective and capable institutions at the national, regional and local levels. Indufor takes an active role in supporting developing countries in their climate change efforts. Furthermore, Indufor is committed to contributing to a system of generating carbon credits from avoided deforestation and forest degradation through the development of national and international REDD(+) strategies, as well as through the implementation of REDD initiatives from the national to community levels.
Indufor is also active in promoting forest climate projects that go beyond carbon concerns, including biodiversity conservation, poverty alleviation and sustainable economic growth.
