Supply chain control – log tracking
Responsible timber industry can demonstrate that the produced timber originates from a legal source and has been produced applying good forest management practices. Wood tracking or log-tracking systems and technologies provide means to differentiate such timber from unspecified sources. When combined with forest management certification, these technologies can be used to verify that the wood in a product comes from a well-managed forest. Users of log-tracking systems include government agencies, forest companies, timber importers, certification bodies and inspection companies.
The wood tracking systems can bring substantial benefits to all those who are interested in improving the efficiency of logistical operations, enhancing quality control, safety, transparency and financial discipline within the wood supply chain.
