How Will Africa Satisfy its Growing Demand for Forest Products?
Last week stakeholders involved with forestry investments in Africa gathered to attend the African Forestry Investment Conference, which took place in Accra, Ghana, between 13th and 14th June 2017. The event was organized by the African Development Bank and the Climate Investment Funds (CIF). The core topic of the conference was to find answers to the question at hand: how will Africa satisfy its rapidly increasing regional demand for forest products?
Speakers and participants of the event comprised various stakeholder groups involved in the forestry investment universe, including key decision-makers from international financing institutions, representatives from the major regional forest plantation projects, and local SMEs. Indufor was represented at the event by Mr Juho Penttilä, who gave a presentation on the main challenges and enabling conditions required for successful forest plantation investments in Africa. The presentation, which drew core lessons-learned from long experience working in the African forestry sector, was held in cooperation with Mr Paul Ankrah, Indufor’s associate.
Through continuous engagement in challenging projects in the region, Indufor is uniquely positioned to provide unparalleled services in combining financial, environmental, and social performance of your forestry investments.
