Technological assessments/operational Improvements

Knowing whether a wood product manufacturing plant is operationally sound and whether low cost improvement opportunities exist is important for plant owners and managers, potential investors, and other financial institutions. Indufor staff has broad expertise in various wood products manufacturing processes. It understands the operational factors that impact the profitability of manufacturing plants.

In assessing plants, Indufor offers the following two services:

  1. Indufor Technological Assessment (ITA)
  2. Indufor Operational Improvement Analysis (IOIA)

The ITAs are commonly used by financial institutions and investors as part of a due diligence process or an evaluation on whether to begin or continue funding a company or an operation.  In these assessments, Indufor analyses the current technological state of an operation and its technical feasibility.

The goal in the IOIAs is to find ways to improve the financial performance of a plant without major capital investment. The IOIAs are an inexpensive way to tune up your plant. In this type of projects Indufor brings its experienced staff to the plant for several days to observe the plant operation, analyse past performance data and financial records.

Indufor staff values the experience of all the workers and supervisors at the plant and works with them as a team on these projects.  However, it also brings a fresh set of eyes to the plant and draws from its experience at numerous other plants it has visited.  Its clients can benefit of considerable cost savings, productivity improvement or value increase opportunities from Indufor’s ability to:

  • Analyse key operative functions and their financial impact,
  • Take a fresh view on the operation, and to
  • Draw valuable ideas from the plant’s employees
