Jussi Viding, Consultant - Forest Policy, holds a Bachelor's degree in biology (BSc) from the Imperial College London (2004) and a Master's degree in environmental sciences (MEnvSci) from the University of Helsinki (2009).
Jussi Viding has experience in global forest and environmental policy issues, such as illegal logging (including FLEGT and EU Timber regulation), multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs), global and EU policies affecting wood trade, climate change, as well as drivers of tropical deforestation. Furthermore, he has accumulated professional experience in the multidimensional aspects of poverty, Social Impact Assessment and the forests-poverty link. Prior to joining Indufor, he worked in the Department for Development Policy at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. There his main responsibilities included acting as the Secretary for the Quality Assurance Group, as well as for the Working Group aiming to advance wood-based building in terms of climate policy. He is fluent in Finnish and English.
