Pete Watt,
Head of Resource Mapping

Pete Watt, Head of Resource Mapping, holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Forest Mapping from Durham University, England (2005), and a Bachelor of Forestry Science degree from Canterbury University, New Zealand (1993).

Pete Watt’s expertise includes analysis of satellite imagery, and the design and implementation of national REDD+ monitoring strategies in Asia and South America. This covers monitoring land use and land use change on both a local and national scale using GIS, remote sensing and forest management. He has been involved in projects throughout Oceania, Asia and South America. These projects have focused on establishing land cover baselines and monitoring of deforestation / degradation and have included estimating forest measurements and growth variation from airborne LiDAR.
