Sepul K. Barua, Consultant - Forest Policy, holds a DSc (Doctor of Science) degree in forest economics and policy from the University of Helsinki, Finland (2012). He spent a semester as a visiting doctoral student at the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Yale University, New Haven, USA. He did his master’s degree in Forest Economics and Policy from the University of Helsinki (2007), and bachelor’s degree in Forestry from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh.
He has experience of both research and consulting in the area of natural resource and environmental economics and policy. His key expertise includes forest economic modelling; forest and environmental taxation; forest, environmental and climate change economics and policy; economics and policy of tropical deforestation; REDD+ policy; payment for environmental services. Prior to joining Indufor in 2012, he worked as a researcher at the Helsinki University Center for Environment (HENVI). During his earlier studies he worked in Indufor in 2006 and 2007.
Sepul is fluent in English, Bengali and Chittagonian.
